Love is worth the risk…

When their grandfather dies, the Lindquist sisters, Harper, Scarlet and Maggie, inherit the northern Minnesota fishing lodge that had been in their family for three generations. The inheritance is bittersweet. They were raised at the lodge by their grandparents. The natural beauty of the place hasn’t changed, but the building itself is crumbling and desperately in need of repair. The lodge also reminds them of what they lost. Twenty-two years previously, their parents died there in what was ruled a murder/suicide.

As the sisters struggle to breathe new life into the failing lodge, old fears and questions rise to the surface even as new love presents itself. Why did their father murder their mother? What truths did their grandparents keep from them? The sisters must fight to keep the wounds of the past from putting their futures, and their fledging relationships, in jeopardy.

Lies and Solace

She can’t live with one more lie. He can’t tell the truth.

Harper Lindquist is convinced she’s found the answer to her financial prayers. Unless she pours cash into crumbling Solace Lake Lodge, she’ll lose her family’s legacy. Her would-be savior arrives in the middle of a Minnesota blizzard and she’s determined to prove to her reluctant, and trapped, financier the lodge is a sound investment. But Harper isn’t completely honest with him. And she has no idea the lake is hiding secrets of its own.

Ethan James is a liar, but his money is very real. He isn’t convinced a broken-down inn is a smart investment opportunity. But the more he understands Harper’s dreams and desires, the more he wants to be the man to make them come true. The trauma in both their pasts means neither can fully trust the other. They must find the courage to love, to trust, and to accept, or yesterday’s sorrows will keep them apart.

This is a first time read for me from this author and I was so inspired with Harper and Ethan's story. Can not wait to find out about the rest of the sisters.

For people who love a sweet love story with some angst thrown in this one is for you.

A really great start to the series. Harper is one of three sisters who was raised by their grandparent after the death of their parents. Now Harper is the only sister still in the rundown family lodge and she needs help to restore it and keep it up and running. That where Ethan comes into the picture but he is not sure the Inn is a good investment. This was a good read with plenty of twists. I cannot wait for the next book.

What a sweet and lovely small-town romance! The hero and the heroine have complex backstories that are revealed in a perfect dripwise fashion that show the basis for their goals and motivations, allowing the reader to easily empathize with them as they struggle with inner conflicts dealing with their secrets and what they have withheld from each other… If you like small town romance with complex characters, you'll find this book a treat.

It's hard not to be fascinated by both lead characters: Harper, a strong and independent woman … And Ethan, the true hero of this story, a man who wants to help Harper fulfill her dreams but driven to hide his secrets.
Lies And Solace will hook any reader from page one.

The relationship between Ethan and Harper isn’t easy in the book as there’s a lot of hidden truths and lies. This makes for a interesting storyline and keeps the reader hooked. I did enjoy this story and I’m looking forward to reading book two in the series.

I really enjoyed Harper and Ethan’s story! A sweet contemporary set in a beautiful small resort area. Add in the beginnings of a mystery and I’m hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the rocky road these two took to find each other.

Set in rural Minnesota, the story brings the reader right into the countryside.  Readers will shiver with the cold that seeps into the dilapidated lodge, and be thankful for Harper’s sunny personality that brightens every page. …Ms. Richards does a wonderful job developing characters, major and minor, that readers come to care about. The relationship between Harper and Ethan, which goes from sweet to hot, is packed with emotional intensity. For the reader who wants a sweet and classy story with a touch of well-done heat, “Lies and Solace” is just the ticket.  It will have readers eager for the next book in the series.

Harper fears that giving in to Ethan could lead to what happened to her parents and Ethan is afraid to reveal who he really is. What happens to them is not something I am willing to talk about in this review but it is something you definitely should find out for yourself….A beautiful story of two people who are keeping secrets, secrets that could destroy any chance they have for a relationship.

This book is a fast, enjoyable read and does a great job at building into the series to draw the reader to continue reading. The story was well written and flowed nicely. I also found that the characters seemed relatable and almost jumped off the page. I read this book fairly quickly and was happy to have the next book in the series with me already. I would highly recommend reading the entire series.

This was a great book to start this series of 3 sisters restoring a family fishing lodge. Ethan and Harper are such a good match as the opening couple to this series, I read all 3 in a weekend and was sorry to leave them. Each is a unique story and although have common theme and mystery they have their own HEA. I recommend this as well as entire series.

I enjoyed Harper and Ethan's story a lot, enough that I'm anxious to get to the next sister. I want to get deeper into what drove their parents' actions years before the girls' stories, actions that made deep ripples in the peace of Solace Lake. The characters are full and rich and, most importantly, different from each other. Setting is always important to me, and Ms. Richards has done a great job with it here, putting me right in the snow in the woods. As a matter of fact, I'd like to sit in one of the cabins and look out at the lake while I'm writing some stories of my own.

Lies and Solace, the first book in the Love at Solace Lake series, was a wonderful read. The prologue set the stage and the epilogue gave nice closure…I liked the way their families played into the story as well as their histories. All the siblings have doubts about where their attraction is heading except for them. There are family and friends, lots of secrets and lies, hurt, anger, fear, happiness, elation, estimates, building issues, the lake, the weather, lots of hard work, satisfaction, reminisces, loving and love…There is some closure and a happily ever after and hints of what’s more to come. I for one am looking forward to the next two books in the series.
Romancing the Book

The story-line includes charming sentimental renovation of a family lodge, mysterious deaths, secrets between the two main characters. I must admit that the relationships between the two groups of siblings were as interesting as the relationship that developed between Harper and Ethan…In fact, I am not sure which of Harper’s sisters that I hope gets the next book. Both Scarlet and Maggie are women with secrets of their own. However, what I am sure of is that I would want to read the next. Now that the groundwork for the series has been laid, this series should get even better.

I loved this book! The push-pull between Ethan and Harper was timed perfectly, and the mystery about the Solace Lake Lodge/their family history added just the right amount of suspense to the overall story. I will definitely pick up the rest of the series - can't wait to find out what happens next!

This series is just unbelievable ! It draws you into every page! I was crying when they cried and laughing when they laughed! Truly a well written series! It actually brought back some of my growing up because I've been to those Minnesota towns. Thank you for a fantastic read!

There is mystery with the lodge and Harper. Ethan decides to pretend he isn't the boss and see if he is treated differently by Harper. These two almost lose each other, because of their lies. This is a good series and I am looking forward to reading the next book!

The first book in the Love at Solace Lake series a well written book that held my interest throughout.

Where the hell has this author been and why haven’t I read her before? This book is fantastic!... A bit more heat and this book would be perfection! I’ve been going back and forth for the rating. Four stars? No, it is so freaking good…After a mental debate I’m going with five stars. I couldn’t stop reading!

excerpt

As she stared into his dark eyes she realized how much she trusted him, and relied on him. That was something rare for her. The only people she trusted as much were her sisters.

I’m in love with him.

The thought blasted through her brain with the force of a tsunami. The tension of the last few weeks, the insecurity, the mistrust, the fear, slipped easily from her shoulders. For the first time, her mind was clear.

She was in love with Ethan and she didn’t want to wait anymore. She wanted him. She wanted him to be her first, her last.

Finding courage she didn’t know she possessed, Harper slid off the stool and walked around the island. She plucked the wine glass from his hand and set it on thecounter, then placed his hand on her breast. “Make love with me, Ethan.”

A fire lit in his eyes, telling her he wanted her, too. But there was a question there, a hesitation. “Are you sure?”

She’d never been more sure of anything in her life. “Yes.”

“Harper—”

“Shhh. Let’s not talk anymore.” She placed one finger over his lips, then stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.

Ethan’s reaction was lightning swift. He wrapped his arms around her and brought her close, his mouth descending on hers in a wild, warm kiss. Their tongues tangled, slid over each other. She’d missed his touch, his taste. She moaned, and in the sound she heard thirty-two years of longing.
For this. For him.
